Gwen Batie Blue

bio

Gwen Ann Weaver was born on November 3, 1946, in Rogers, Arkansas.

Blue became a Private Pilot November 8, 1973. How ironic that on the same day 45 years later she would be inducted into the Arkansas Aviation Hall of Fame! She continued building hours flying.

After her second son was born she continued flying by earning her Instrument, Commercial, Ground Instructor, Advanced Ground Instructor, Flight Instructor, Gold Seal Flight Instructor, Multi-engine and ATP.

In 1983 she became the First Female Designated Examiner for Arkansas. She was designated for Private, Instrument, Commercial, Flight Instructor, and some Light Twin Check Flights. She had a Part 61 Flight School with four instructors working with her.

Flying recognitions: Accident Prevention Counselor, Flight Safety Award for Arkansas, 1983 Flight Instructor of the Year by the Aeronautical Commission and Arkansas Aviation Historical Society, 1990 - Arkansas CFI of the Year by the FAA.

She retired in 2009 with over 15,000 hours logged.

This past year she reminisced on her "aviation anecdotes" into a paperback book titled Take Off. Hopefully it will be published by November 2018.
